Film Diary: Fuqua-Varina, NC: May, 2024 - even in the worst conditions, and with the worst available light (and least forgiving film), there is something so wonderful about film that once you see the image, you only want to give it the slightest tweaks so the memory can stay beautiful and imperfect, just like it was and is. https://lnkd.in/eZVNYhbU

T-MINUS 15 DAYS until Principal Photography begins on "All That Is Evil." It's been five years since I've last directed a feature film! (Except a couple feature-length documentaries — this is entirely different though, as it's narrative and based on a screenplay I wrote myself.) While we are mostly geared up to take on the production, we are looking to cover a few additional expenses that will elevate this project to the next level. If you want to support film industry growth in the Carolinas, please consider contributing towards our campaign. (LINKED in the comments.)

Film Jargon #12: who or what was Film noir?Coined just after the end of the Second World War, the term ‘film noir’ or black film came to describe a highly stylised genre of cinematography. It was typified by dark themes, tight dialogue, low key-key lighting and, often, a lead character who was an anti-hero or private detective, counter-poised with a femme fatale.Think of Humphrey Bogart in The Maltese Falcon and Angels with Dirty Faces; Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles in The Third Man; the brooding Robert Mitchum in Out of the Past, the psychopathic and duplicitous Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity, or – that man again – Bogart with Lauren Bacall in The Big Sleep. All of these are classic examples of film noir.Although film noir is most closely associated with black and white film, the genre underpins many modern films – sometimes referred to as ‘neo-noir’.Examples include Chinatown from 1974 and Pulp Fiction from 1994.Each draws on many of the styles and themes found in the early film noir movies.Although the film noir genre may be somewhat harsh for the typical corporate, product or educational films that we produce, we’re always happy to discuss ways in which some of the film noir techniques – stylised lighting or unusual camera angles, for example, - can be used to make your next company film stand out from the crowd.#filmaking #b2bmarketing #videomarketing

I love a good film noir movie! It's a powerful method of story-telling. How about adopting some of the same techniques for your next corporate or product video? It'll certainly make it different!#b2bmarketing #b2bcontent #b2bvideo
